Geography

Census Division No.12 is located in Eastern Manitoba and is located north-east of the City of Winnipeg (the Provincial Capital). Provincial Trunk Highways No.15 and 44 are the major east-west transportation routes, while Provincial Trunk Highway No.12 is the major north-south route serving the area.

The 1996 population of the Census Division was 18,705. The Census Division area is made up of the Town of Beausejour, Village of Garson, and Rural Municipalities of Brokenhead and Springfield.

The major urban service centre in the area is the Town of Beausejour.


Economic Base

Much of the area is actively involved in farming and agriculture. The Beaxusejour area is also known as the gateway to the Whiteshell Provincial Park and some of Manitoba's best vacation-lands. The beautiful scenery, events and activities around region supports a thriving tourism and service industry.
