Economic BaseThe South Interlake area has a diverse economy. The two major urban centres, Stonewall and Teulon, function as retail service centres for the surrounding residents and farming community. There is a strong agricultural presence in the area, which focuses on the production of grain, oilseeds, hog and poultry barns, and cattle and dairy operations. Some of the more unique farms specialize in such things as miniature horses, donkeys, llamas, emus and alpacas. There are several buffalo herds in the area, and many racing and riding horse breeders. There are several U-pick berry farms, and acres of alfalfa are seeded as livestock feed.
