Geography

The Rural Municipality of Arthur is located in the southwestern corner of the province. The communities of Coulter and Elva are the major centres in the municipality. Arthur is easily accessible by a number of provincial highways. Provincial Trunk Highway(PTH) 3 connects Arthur to the rest of western Manitoba, while PTH 83 connects Arthur to the north and continues through to the United States. Provincial Roads 251 and 452 also run through the communities. The Town of Melita is located in the northern part of the municipality, and is an important service centre for the surrounding communities.

Economic Base

Agriculture is the key backbone to Arthur's economy, yet it is not the only part of it. The municipality features two feed companies, a grain elevator, a farm implement dealer and a farm equipment sales dealer. Tilbury Trucking, which specializes in transport services, employs approximately 20 or more local residents, and is the region's most prominent employer. South west Pontiac Buick, a local car dealership, and the local John Deere implement dealer each employ approximately 10 employees each.

Major Attractions

While in Arthur, ask about the local Native burial grounds. The local burial grounds are a strong symbol of the rich native culture that existed in the region long before the first European settlers set foot on Manitoba soil. Come visit the Municipality of Arthur and its warm residents today!
