Geography

The Rural Municipality of Saskatchewan is located in the fertile prairies of Western Manitoba. The Town of Rapid City, the centre of the municipality, is located only 40 kilometres northwest of Brandon. The R.M. of Saskatchewan is easily reached along Provincial Trunk Highways 24 and 10. The municipality is also serviced by a number of Provincial roads, such as PR 250 and 270.


Economic Base

As is the case with most Western Manitoba municipalities, agriculture is an integral part of the R.M. of Saskatchewan's economy. The municipality specializes in grain, mixed and livestock farming (especially cattle). The municipality boasts over 171 farms, 75 small holdings of land, and over 226 farm dwellings and buildings. The municipality offers new farmers and residents great opportunities to buy farms or acreages at very reasonable rates. Any individual involved in the farming or agricultural business, will find the R.M. of Saskatchewan irresistible for location.


Major Attractions

The municipality is home to many all-season recreational activities. The winter season provides opportunities for ice fishing, hunting and figure skating. The municipality also boasts a nine-hole golf course with a fully licensed clubhouse, which will be a great stop over for all golf enthusiasts. The banks of the Little Saskatchewan River also provide excellent camping grounds alongside tennis courts, children's playground, and a beach.


Facilities - Recreation, Parks, Culture

The municipality boasts an active and close-knit community. Residents are involved in many clubs such as the 4-H club, and the Bluebird club. The local hockey and curling rinks in Rapid City, encourages a variety of team sports. The people in the R.M. of Saskatchewan invite you also to visit during their annual Agricultural Fair and Rodeo. These two events are sure be fun for the whole family, and promise to provide a great glimpse of the culture of rural Manitoba.
