The Rural Municipality of Clanwilliam is located in the south central part of Manitoba. Clanwilliam is immediately south of the beautiful Riding Mountain National Park. Clanwilliam consists of 231 kilometres of rolling picturesque countryside with lakes of various sizes surrounded by rich coniferous and deciduous forests. The municipality is easily accessilble by Provincial Trunk Highway 10, which forms part of the municipality's western boundary. The Town of Erickson is the principle settlement in the area and is also located on Highway 10. Other communities also include Scandanavia, Hilltop and Kerr Lake. Clanwilliam also is home to the Rolling River First Nations Reserve, which is found in the southwestern corner of the municipality.
Economic Base
The main focus of the Municipality's economy is agriculture. Farming is varied and includes cereal crops, specialty crops, cow/calf operations, feed lots, dairy operations and a growing interest in bison and deer farming. Tourism is increasingly becoming an economic draw for the municipality. With it's close proximity to Riding Mountain this is not hard to see why. The Town of Erickson provides all the basic services and conveniences of a larger urban centre. The town also boasts its own hospital.
