Geography

The Rural Municipality of Mountain is located in the western portion of Central Manitoba. The municipality is split into two regions, Mountain North and Mountain South. Mountain North is the northernmost municipality in the Parkland, and the second northernmost municipality in Manitoba. Mountain North shares part of its eastern boundary with the scenic shore of Swan Lake. The R.M. is easily accessible by Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 10 and Provincial Roads 266 and 268. PTH 10 provides a direct access to the United States, making Mountain North easily connected to markets in the southern portion of Manitoba and the United States. Mafeking, Novra, Birch River and Bellsite are significant communities in Mountain North.
